Provo Night life with Hiedi and other goodies

After gardening all day, Hiedi and I decided it was time for some good food and Provo night life. It was just like old times. We left Josh home with the kids (thank you Josh!), hopped into the BMW and headed out. We cruised center listening to good old 80's electronic/techno music. It was perfect.
First stop was Maestro's, a cafe that our friend Alex started. Its actually the first idea of the many millions he has had that has come to fruition and I am so proud of him. He's serving Gelato in Provo!
Sadly, Alex was not there but I was able to meet Chris, his baker brother.
Next, we headed to Spark

I am very, very spoiled, since I get to eat in some of the best restaurants in the world, but I was pretty excited about this place; mostly for its atmosphere. They dont have anything like it in Provo, that's for sure. You can come here and get imaginative cuisine and non-alcoholic mixed drinks. There is also live music after 10 on some nights.

I started out with the roasted cauliflower soup. I was disappointed in it, since it tasted too salty and over-cooked. . .too heavy.

The most popular non-alcoholic mixed drink, Mango Mohito.

It was refreshing, although I have had better (Italy does them the best).
Next I ordere pan-seared scallops. It came with shaved asparagus salad with spicy lemon dressing on a coconut rice cake.

This dish was actually the crowning glory of my Spark experience. Mostly because of the dressing that seemed to mix so well with the other flavors. The scallops were cooked perfectly and even tasted okay, even though we are so far from the sea.
Hiedi and I also shared the fettucini pasta with oyster mishrooms, asparagus, madeira cream, porcini butter and black truffle sauce. . .It was too mushy and greasy and was lacking in flavor. . .but, like I said before, I usually get my pasta in Italy.
Then cruising Center back to Hiedi's.

The next day, Hiedi and I went to her parents house to see what her sisters (Jennifer, Stephanie, Marnet) were up to.
Apparently, their parents were out of town so they decided to do some surprise renovations.
Stephanie taking a break before
starting to paint again.
Above, Jennifer.
These girls are actually pretty good do-it-yourself girls. They get it from both their mother and father, I think. I might as well take the time now to tell you I am writing a book (that's mostly not serious but could turn into something I'm serious about) about how a girl can live life well in hard econcomic times; basically on less income. It's mostly a lot of do it yourself stuff like how to color your own hair, etc. etc. These girls know how to do all of that stuff. Another reason why Hiedi and I went to her parents house was so we could use the wax pot and wax our own legs. It costs practically nothing. We were running out of time (talking to her sistesr too much) so I decided now would be a good time (especially since Sally Beauty supply was so close and Stephanie has a wholesale discount card) to go buy my own wax pot! I've been wanting to do it but just have never gotten around to it. Meanwhile, it has been costing me from 30-70 dollars a session to get professinally waxed. Here are the wax products at Sally's:
How much did it cost me to buy wax, a wax pot and all the paraphanilia that comes with it? 100 dollars. It will last me for 2-3 years, at least. How much money am I saving in the long run? A LOT; just think 30-70 dollars a month. All I have to do is do the work, which, as I've been trying it, is actually not that hard. . .and I actually like it better because I can do it the way I like it.

After running around all day, Hiedi, Mavis and Jack (the little cuties) and I headed back to Hiedi's where Josh was making the best, best, best home made pita, chicken schwarma, and hummus I have ever had!!! Look at that Pita (there is only onen piece left)!!! Josh is beyond professional level when it comes to breads.
