My favorite cookies at the moment . . .

1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
fresh grated orange peel
~Cream together above ingredients~
2 3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour (or white, or Kamut for you, Hiedi)
2 tsp Kosher salt
2 dashes cinnamon
~Combine above dry ingredients and then add to creamed mixture~
1-1 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup toasted almond slices
Combine all ingredients. Cover; chill atleast one hour.
Drop spoonfulls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 350-375 11-14 minutes, depending on elevation and oven. When baking for the first time, watch the bottoms carefully so they do not burn. These are extra dense cookies since there is no baking powder or baking soda.
I made these cookies last night at my crash pad while I was waiting for Anne's flight to get in. It is the 8th time I have made them and the only type of cookies I have ever made at my "crash pad" here in Newark, New Jersey.
As soon as Anne got in, we bundled up the cookies and ourselves and caught the 725pm train to Hazlet, New Jersey for an Oscar party at Shawn's. We paired them with fresh milk from Brussells. They were the perfect treat . . .
