Tonight was kind of a surreal night, straight out of a Wes Anderson film.
In fact, I WATCHED a Wes Anderson film with my two sisters; Jana and Tiffany. It's perhaps the first time just the three of us have done something together. (Insane, I know but you'd understand if you were from a huge family).
We ate at the Himilayan Kitchen and watched The Darjeeling Limited. We didnt plan on either, we just did them and the fact that we had Indian food and watched a movie filmed in India is purely coincidental as well. Oh, and the fact that the movie was about 3 brothers developing a closer relationship. May I tell you? . .I am in love with those three brothers.
We are now back at "our" apartment (jana and I are roomates, tiffany, visiting from Korea is staying with us) sitting on the futon watching the second season of The Office. Chunks of snow are hurling themselves onto the roof top and parking lot outside our window, splattering as they land. I'm typing on my computer because sometimes I get a little bored watching The Office, even though I do think it's funny.. .
What finally happened tonight is this: The song I have been looking for since I was 12 has been found. I kind of forgot I was looking for it and that I still loved it until I heard it near the end of the Darjeeling Limited. I was in shock to find out it was by a band so obvious as the Stones. . . .how come no one ever knew what I was talking about when I asked about it???? How come I never discovered who it was by?! How come I never discovered it when I was "so into the Stones". Admittedly, I was 12 but sometimes there are surprising gaps in my knowledge.
(Which makes me want to tell you about the time that I was in Music 101 and I came to class one day when they were passing out papers. . .I asked the person next to me, "What's that?" and they said, "the Mid-Term". uh. What midterm? Apparently I had spaced a whole midterm. To this day I still don't know how it happened.)
Well, regardless. It's found. Finally.
It still means a lot to me. I guess I'm not too different from my 12 year old self.
I can't believe its been 20 years.
Long live the Power of Music.
